It is all mechanical and will work without a battery. This is unusual as most cameras from this period have an electronically controlled shutter. The meter, though, does need a battery.

Shutter speeds upto 1/4000 second, with a 1/250 flash sync speed. This camera has a 'honeycomb' shutter.
