Introduced in 1997, the Polaplus was an improvement over the previous instant film backs:
- has a click 'stop' to allow the darkslide to be partially withdrawn so that it does not cover the film, but does not leave the back
- a safety catch ensures that the darkslide is replaced before the back can be removed from the camera
