Mariss Jansons draws visceral, cinematic power from the Philadelphia Orchestra in a commanding account of Shostakovich's imposing 11th Symphony. Produced to EMI Classics standards with polished, full-bodied sound, and with collector interest in Jansons' legacy growing since his passing in 2019, this is a rewarding disc from one of the great conductor-orchestra partnerships.
