The definitive Vaughan Williams symphony cycle: Boult conducted the premieres of several of these works and was the composer's own chosen interpreter, giving these performances an authority no rival can match. Recorded at Abbey Road and Kingsway Hall in the 1960s–70s under Christopher Bishop's production, the EMI sound is among the finest orchestral engineering of the analog era. Essential for any collector of British music.
